I knew little of Mr. Golightly but he did seemed to be a
pretty nice fella. The
Metal Shop, as mentioned in
The
Early Years of Hoffmeyer Hall, made
the bed frames for the dorm. But it is
unknown at this time if he was
the shop's teacher during the assembly of the bed frames.
Not all boys took Metal Shop...not all girls knew there was a
Metal Shop...
I also don't remember any of my Classmates taking Metal Shop. I remember
other boys taking Metal Shop especially Fred Ballew ('69) and if my memory
serves me correct, Fred came up with a simple locking device for some of us
boys so that when you added a padlock you can lock your sliding door closets
to keep prying hands out of our lockers.
