Gary took this film across the bay from Cape Kennedy, since
renamed
Cape Canaveral. Most likely, we pulled to an observation point just off
Florida road A1A/528. The assembly building that Richard mentioned
in the clip is the "rectangular" block over the pick-up truck
just before it backed up.
This film clip was taken on Friday,
November 14, 1969. The morning
was cloudy and I remember the lift off very well; In the distance,
you can see the flames and the smoke of the rocket, see it lift off
and then it disappeared into the clouds. Then you could see the flames
again through the break in the clouds and then it disappeared again.
